Prop F.A.Q
General propping F.A.Q
What is a prop?
A prop (or proposition player) is a player hired from the gaming site to help starting new tables and keep a good environment for their customers. You play with your own money but get a much better rakeback deal then others. You have no other benefits from the site, and you have to follow a few simple rules, but you are well rewarded.
Can anyone become a prop?
Everyone can become a prop, but it does not suit every player. As a prop you are forced to start new tables and not only play full ones as most of the players do today. If you refuse to play heads up (1on1) or extremely shorthanded tables maybe propping is nothing for you. If you are one of the players that do not want to move to another table until you have "won back what you have lost", you should maybe reconsider. Maybe our ordinary rakeback deals will fit you better if that is the case.
Why do you have a prop team, what do you earn of this?
Propping is good for all parts, the poker room gets more action and the prop player gets a lot more money back on their gaming. We get a small % on top of your prop pay on the sites as a payment for our managing service, support and boosting the deals to the best.
Payments F.A.Q
How do we get paid?
Depending on what site you are playing at the player get a percentage of his or her rake back. On some sites you are paid per hand dealt. How much you will earn depends on what limit you are playing and how many hours a week you play. To most players prop pay will significantly boost your income of poker, no matter if you are a professional player that just want to have a more secure source of your poker income, or a newcomer to poker that just want some extra help to beat the game and get a larger bankroll.
Why does the poker rooms pay so much to props?
To be able to get games going you need customers, to get customers you need to have games going. Props looks like regular customers (and in fact they are, just with a better rakeback deal then most others) and when tables are going customers may more easily come and sit down.
What is the fee to become a prop?
You don't pay to play as a prop - you get paid! The only thing that costs money is when you fund your poker account. You play with your own money.
Prop poker rooms F.A.Q
How do I know what poker rooms I can play on as you only write them down by numbers?
We tell you which poker room it is when you sign up. Most prop sites do not want us to tell that they have props on their site, thus we cannot reveal the names until you have agreed to our terms. There for you can NEVER say you are a prop in chat or to anyone else. You can not say what site you are propping at.
Can't you tell me what poker room it is before I apply to become a prop?
We REALLY cannot give out site names before you have applied to become a prop and accepted the terms and conditions - but we still get tons of questions about it!
When I prop, can you guarantee there are traffic all the time or can it be so that I have to sit out and wait?
We cannot guarantee that there will always be traffic for you as a prop. You are most often hired by the poker rooms as prop because there are pretty low traffic. To help you get as much action as possible we have written down when the sites "prime time" are and we also recommend you to register at more then one prop site if possible.
Can I prop-play in every poker-room, or only on those you have contract with?
You can only play as prop on the sites we have a contract with and those listed on the site.
Prop rules F.A.Q
What kind of rules do I have to follow?
Read the rules for every individual site, which you will be sent to you when you apply to become a poker prop. Most often is the rules are about not sitting on full tables, maximum number of props at every table and maximum time to play vs props without customers at the table. The general prop rules are found here.
What if I see a prop breaking the rules?
If there is a shiftmanager online you just tell him. If not, write an email to per.lindholm@prop-poker.com and tell what site, what rules the player is breaking and what time it is. Do NOT tell him he is doing wrong in the chat in the poker client.
What is a Shiftmanager?
Some sites are actively managed during peak hours. This means that there is one person that actively manage and make sure every prop follows the rules, and actively makes props starting new tables and moving to dying ones. As soon as we see that you understand the rules we will let you play more at your own, but we will still keep an eye on the tables and you will recieve warnings if you break the rules. We let you play at your own so that you can focus more on the game - don't abuse this opportunity by breaking the rules.
Does the Shift Manager (SM) tell me where to play and when to break up a table?
Yes that is part of the managers job. The SM does not always tell you where to play and when to stop at a certain table as long as you follow the rules, but sometimes he will to boost activity or to help certain limits.
Do I have to play above my bankroll or games I am not comfortable with?
No. You decide what limits you can afford and what games you want to play. If any site have limit requirements, you will see it in the prop site rules before you sign up.
