The "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act"

Regarding the US Government Decision

Most of the poker community seems to be in some kind of chock now. Most of us that are in the business probably didn't think that the US government would pull this regulation through, but it seems like they did. It was real smart of them to put it together with some anti-terrorism laws. From our point of view it does not feel like this will stop Online Gambling at all. Honestly we are not sure why they would stop it. Some people say it have to do with the amount of money leaving the country. Other says it is the Las Vegas lobby that are afraid people stop coming there to play. That is at least one argument that we do not believe in. Going to Las Vegas to play poker is probably one thing that interests any serious poker player. It doesn't matter if you are playing online or live. This is of course only specualtions and of no value for you as player - more important for you is how this affects you directly.

How does this law affect you as a player?
We have been discussing with our props and with most of our affiliate managers on our different sites and it seems like everyone is pretty optimistic. Most of our sites say that they will go on as usual accepting players from all over the world. As Prop-Poker.com is only a management service we have no reason to stop you from propping through us. The transactions are not at our end but between you and the poker room. A few of our sites does not accept US players today, but they did not do that before yesterday either. It seems like most people are really uncertain to the reasons for US to try to stop the gambling, they do not see any reasons. One thing that many people have been afraid of is that this will spread to the European market too. The people I have been discussing with do not think this is the case. The EU laws are still pretty straightforward and it seems like most poker sites are now trying to get as many of the banned partypoker players as possible. While the US forbids online poker - the Swedish government open up the first poker site in the world owned by the state (but only for Swedish players). Can you see the difference?
All the European players thoughts that this regulation means less fish for a while are all wrong because the fishe just move to other sites.

All together it seems like this regulation will have some impact on the market, but noone seems sure to know in which way. No one seems to believe that this is the end to online poker, not for US players or anyone else. NETELLER said yesterday that this did not affect them, but they have changed their mind now and states they are not sure they are affected or not. No of the European players I have spoke to believes that the same thing will happened in their contries and they all think there will be ways around it if it would. It seems like everyone in the world screams "This is not over until it is over". Until then, see you on the tables. From our view there are no need to worry, and we keep a good track on our sites if anything changes.

Good luck to all of you!
